Hi friends,
I am sponsoring my wife for PR. She is from a non exempt country (Thailand). I want to invite her on a TRV with dual intent, while application is in process. She has done her medicals, police clearance, holds a good job in Merchandising for a large retailer (similar to Best Buy / Future Shop), holds a bachelor's degree. She is able to take a one month leave of absence, with a letter from employer. We are same age, in relationship for 22 months, married for 12 months and physically together around 11 months or so. We just found out she is pregnant. We would try to show some documentation proving her intent to return to Thailand, such planned hospital for pregnancy, possibly return airfare, letter from employer, letter from her elderly mom (she will live with her for the remaining months before she moves to Canada for good), proof that she is not bringing her goods (she will do this of course when she lands as a PR). Our application is quite strong IMO for PR and we will show documentation which we also used to prove the genuineship of our relationship. Some examples are how we met (through a mutual friend), my 6 trips to Thailand to visit her, marriage photos (my family came as well), etc etc,. She has never applied to visit Canada before, but she has been to South Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore without overstaying. My parents invited her on a B2 visa this past Christmas as we had hoped to celebrate the Christmas Holidays in my parents winter home in Florida. This was denied of course. ??? I also understand it will be hard to prove intent to return due to her having little assets or savings which means our TRV is not the strongest. She does own a piece of land, although it is shared with her siblings.
My situation is that I just graduated from college, have spent a little too much money ;D on the PR process and my multiple trips to Thailand and am also in process of moving to Ottawa from Toronto to look for work in the Ottawa area in my new field of work. I am in Thailand now with her, until July, when I expect to start working with limited vacation time, meaning no more trips to see her for awhile. So, I have no work or no real fixed address at the moment.
My parents on the other hand, are too, desperate to spend more time with her, they miss her terriblly (they came to visit her twice in Thailand), are willing to write a detailed invite letter and sponsor her for TRV. We would stay at their house in the Ottawa area and would plan some weekend trips as well to show officer some sort of intinerary. They can show healthy bank statements to provide any expenses to incur with her stay. I have enough as well, but would like to save it for the pregnancy and our life in Canada together down the road.
Here are some questions for those who can help me. 8)
1. Is it feasible for my parents to invite her on a TRV to Canada? What are the normal drawbacks of in-law parents doing the inviting, writing the invitation?
2. Does the visa officer always request a medical check up?
2. If so, Can we use the same upfront medical she did in November 2013 for the PR?
3. If approved, and for whatever reason, we decide to extend her stay and have the baby in Canada, will this weaken our chances of PR status or hurt our PR application?
(She will still return to Thailand before PR process is finalized, depending on a variety of things including length of PR wait time and finances, her mom's health and our newborn).
4. Would it be better to mention she is pregnant with our child? Or not? (I didn't see any specific questions asking the applicant "are you pregnant?" But i have heard this is asked sometimes during interview?
I fully understand about misrepresentation, absolutely will not lie on forms, as our main goal is to be together always. But can anyone offer me some helpful tips in our situation? I want to help my parents as much as I can if they can invite her. As I said, I am here until mid July and there is also a small window in which we gather evidence, submit and wait two weeks for processing, fly across the world, and return, one month later (possibly), before she's 28 weeks or so pregnant.
