Hey guys,

I really hope someone can help me, I don't know what to do.

I am currently in Canada on Bridge Open Work Permit and applied for a Temporary Resident Visa online in November but only got the request to send my passport to Ottawa yesterday (Friday, Dec 12). The problem is that I have a flight scheduled from a week from now (Saturday, Dec 20) to visit my family and spend around 4 weeks in my home country. That being said, I know it's virtually impossible I will receive my passport back from them in time for my trip, so what I was wondering is instead of sending my passport to Ottawa for them to stamp the visa, I could send it to the local Canadian Consulate/VAC Office in my country?

Does anyone know if that is even possible?

Thanks in advance,

As this type of TRV (i.e which is obtained from within Canada) is normally for the purpose to re-enter/return to canada and is applied before you leave.
if you do not send your passport your application will be considered cancelled and if you leave Canada before getting trv you will need to apply a fresh visa from your home country to return to Canada.
Re-scheduling your travel plans is a better option to avoid any complications.

You can also travel, send your passport to a friend in Canada, have them send the passport to Ottawa, have them receive the passport from Ottawa, have them send the passport to you.

Those are your only options.
