TRV to Canada for my Indonesian Boyfriend

I met my Indonesian boyfriend while living in Asia, and have now returned to Canada for the summer. I would like him to come visit me in Canada for aprox. 1 month before we return to Indonesia together. I understand he would need a TRV even for a holiday and have researched some of the requirements. Before we pay an agency in Jakarta to file all our paperwork I know there are already some red flags on our application and would like to know if anyone has personal experience that could advise us if its worth it to go through with the application

- As I have just been traveling for 7 months, my bank balance is currently quite low. I am working now in Canada but would only have a paycheque or two in my account by the time we need to start applying and showing our paperwork

- I am employed (with the government actually) but my work is only seasonal

- He currently does not have an open bank account in Indonesia at all as he works as a musician on a cash payment basis. His employer can provide pay stubs and record of employment but he will not have active bank statements of deposits and withdrawals..

By the time he arrived I would have significantly more money in my account as proof I can support him, but that is not the case right now and we must apply soon as we are hoping he will come here mid September. Anyone have experience with TRVs in canada that could let me know how detrimental this would be to our application?

To be approved, the most important thing to demonstrate is that he has strong ties to his home country (i.e. job, property, assets). Your information is far less important. Has he traveled to other countries requiring visas in the past (e.g. US, UK)? If not, I would recommend he request a 2 week trip. One month is a long time and may be an indicator of weak ties. He will need to show that he has enough money to pay for his trip to Canada.
