Hi

I live in the US on a H1B visa. I have a multiple entry TRV valid until 09/20/13. I have entered and left Canada several times and I plan to visit and wait for my h1B extension paper work in Canada. The last stamp on my passport when I entered Canada is in June 2013. However when I entered Canada after that I have no stamp in my passport for the last 2 entries. The question is on my TRV status, as per

cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=209&t=17

My understanding based on reading above page is that the TRV status is valid from 6 months from the last entry date into Canada, not the last stamp. So my question is

Is my TRV status valid for 6 months from the date I enter Canada
or
6 months from the last stamp in my passport (June 2013).

Experts please repond. Thanks

As u do not have latest stamp you must prove to immigration that u entered canada on date that you are saying. best way of doing is to go to CBSA website and fill the Access to information for request of your entries and then your entry will come in written by mail to you. check out CBSA website for this.

Thanks for the response. My question was not whether to prove it or not for them, my question was for my own understanding and planning. Also when we enter the visa gets swiped so I am not sure why there is a need for me to prove when I entered, shouldnt the system already know when I entered?

For my understanding can anyone please respond to

Is my TRV status valid for 6 months from the date I enter Canada
or
6 months from the last stamp in my passport (June 2013).

Thanks

Duration of stay is counted from the date of the last entry in Canada.

It would still be recommended to heed the advice of getting written confirmation of your latest entry in Canada. Lessens the hassles. Oftentimes we rely too much that the system has a record of your entry; previous experience showed me that showing clear records upfront minimizes time of the verification of your status at the immigration points.
