TRV stamp and return time?

I currently have a valid work permit in Canada, I booked a trip to travel out of Canada for an appointment and a wedding. I totally forgot that my TRV has expired. I need a TRV to come back into Canada. I remembered this about 10 days before my travel date. I applied for a TRV on the 14th september and the next day (15th september), I was sent the pdf letter indicating that I send my original passport. I mailed my passport the day I received the pdf document and my tracking number showed that it arrived ottawa the next morning (17th september). My question is, how long does it take them to stamp the passport and return it? Does anyone have any experience with this? I stand to loose a lot of money if I don't get my passport before my travel date (sept 24th). I already took time off work. I am really worried and becoming a Nervous wreck! Does anyone have any experience with this? I need answers please.

Actually you should be very happy that what usually takes from 2 to 4 weeks took you 1 day... it almost never happens.

Anyway, usually they stamp the passport on the second business day and send it on the third business day after receiving it. Add to that the time it spends on the mail.
