Hi everyone,
I am super confused! I am a Canadian citizen trying to bring my Mexican husband to Canada. We currently live in Mexico with our two Canadian/Mexican children. I need to enter asap for personal reasons. I was advised by immigration this summer to apply for the trv and then once in Canada apply as a landed immigrant for permanent residency. Now we are trying to fill in the trv and are seeing that it seems to be in direct conflict with our intent to stay. I think I must be very thick, did I misunderstand the immi officer's ideas (he sent the weblink applications). You can't get a trv if you plan to stay!!!! And it looks like you need to be very rich if you are Mexican to even get a trv.
If we apply from here it could take anywhere from 6-18 months and my best friend is very very ill, I can't wait that long and I can't enter Canada and sponsor him from there. Another question: If we do apply outland (from Mexico) and the process is taking a long time, will I be able to take the children and move to Canada while he waits out the process in Mexico? Once the application is in process can I go to Canada?????
I appreciate any and all words of wisdom.........I am batting my head against the wall and we haven't even begun the process.
