TRV renewal for a Mexican worker

Hi,

we are employing a Mexican worker. He currently has a TRV and a work permit that will expire in September. We want to renew his contract for another year.

My questions :
- Is there a way to renew his TRV without sending him back to Mexico? Can he just go to the Canadian border?
- If we apply for his permanent residency now, will he have to apply for a TRV while his application is processed?

Why do you want to renew his TRV? Is he travelling out of the country soon?

If he wishes to travel in/out Canada then he needs a TRV.
