The TRV for my parents who were in US on a tourist visa got rejected.

Can anyone suggest if I should re-apply or go for a transit VISA? What are the chances of getting the VISA if i make substantial changes to my file? Like if my relatives in Canada sponsor the whole trip?

Sorry to hear about the refusal. We may be able to help you if the reasons for denial are provided. Unless you can address the reasons you probably won't change the decision. Applying for GCMS notes may give you a better idea how to proceed. Do a search on forum and you will find good advice on applying for the notes.

GCSM notes are remarks the VO makes regarding your application. It usually has more detail than the refusal letter. Cost $5 and must be ordered by a person in Canada, either family, friend or agency.

You don't want to appeal. It will take months and cost thousands as you must have legal representation in court. You would also have to prove that the visa officer committed an error in coming to the decision. No, the best approach is to read the notes and improve the next application by addressing the notes weaknesses. Most often it is lack if strong ties to home country, poor financial/limited property ownership, lack of spouse/dependent children back home, full time well paying job, good travel history (pref travel for pleasure rather than work purposes), reasons for trip poorly presented, strong attachment to people in Canada, whew ...
Hope this helps.
