TRV Help! Visitor Visa

Hi everyone, I have a question that I can't find the answer online. I have a 5 year visitor visa multiple entry that will expire in February 2015. I am currently changing my passport as it will also expire in February 2015. Can I apply for a new 5 year TRV with my new passport, that will start fresh from now March 1014, or they will ask me to travel with my old one that expires in 2015?
So basically will they issue a new TRV if you have 9 more months available from the old one?

To get a new visa while another is still valid you need to provide a good argument of why you are making that request, and of course proof, e.g. your passport was stolen, therefore you would have a police report that would state this.

In other words, applying "just because it will be handy" is not a valid argument. You have a big chance of your VISA getting denied, of course this is up to CIC on a case to case basis... but well...
