TRV for Vietnamese, what the hell is going on with the wait times?

A couple weeks ago the calculator showed 90 days processing times. Now it is up to 111 days!! Can anybody who has successfully gotten a visitor visa for Vietnam comment on the actual times they experienced?

It is ridiculous, a quick search of all surrounding countries like Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, etc all show reasonable times of 2-3 weeks. Even countries with active conflict right now like Syria are shorter! What gives??

The calculator shows 39 days and I'm already at 40+ days with no updates. This is crazy!!

I called CIC today and the only advice they could offer was that it is due to the office that processes vietnamese nationals visas. It's fustrating because when we first started the application process just 2 weeks ago, the wait time was estimated 60 days, which was a bit rushed for us so we really worked hard on the application. In just 2 weeks the wait time is doubled. I can understand they have a lot of volume but when every other country in the world has processing times from 1-4 weeks, they should really put some extra resources there.
