My wife and I are planning to get her a TRV to come to Canada. We applied for one before in January 2020 and she was denied in March. And we really do not know why. We assumed maybe because of the initial Covid panic? Maybe not? Anyways after that we discovered a change in the TRV process due to the impact of Covid, we found that she would be considered exempt from the travel restriction as she’s the spouse of a Canadian citizen (me) so we’ve decided to try again. I’m here in Canada with one of our daughters and and she is in the Philippines with our other two daughters which are all Canadian citizens. We have been separated for more than a year now. With me working during this pandemic while having to take care of my 6 year old and her running her online business/physical store while taking care of the other two (one of them is 3 years old) I find us having to both put ourselves at risk while putting our children at risk as well. It’s not like we can just stop working as we both have separate bills to pay. So I am wondering if family reunification would be considered essential? The plan is she would come here and take care of the children like assist them in their virtual home schooling while I work and if something were to happen to one of us at least the other one would be there to assist. We’ll do this for a couple months and hopefully by then the situation with covid gets better. Eventually she will go back to the Philippines with our 3 year old, attend to her small business and probably prepare a successor to it like one of her family members up until her sponsorship is approved. Now I’m wondering would that be considered an essential non discretionary purpose? If not than what examples are there of an essential purpose?
