Hello all,

Please accept my apologies if a similar post has been created before by someone else.

I am a permanent resident of Canada. I recently applied for a TRV for my sister and my nephew (5 years of age), both of which got rejected due to familial ties in both Canada and home country (i.e. India), financial status and purpose of visit. My sister's husband is currently working in Dubai and the plan was for my sister and nephew to travel with authorization from her husband. They had around CAD6K in a savings account which is under my sister's name, plus I submitted a letter confirming that I will be taking care of their expenses and added my bank statement, NoA and pay slips. Requested duration was for 6 weeks. Since it was rejected, I wanted to try again after couple of months but this time just for my nephew. So I wanted your suggestions on how to strengthen his application. Below are couple of options which I am thinking:

- Since he is traveling without his mother and father, perhaps it shows a stronger case for having familial ties to India and UAE. I will also submit a letter from his school showing his leave authorization (this was submitted before as well), a copy of his school ID, school fee payment receipts. He can travel with my father and mother (his grandparents) both of whom have approved TRVs. I will also obtain authorization letters from his father and mother. Please let me know if this would strengthen his case from a familial tie perspective? Any other suggestions?

- For financial status, he has about CAD200K currently sitting in an account in India under my father's name. This is for his higher studies. I was thinking about opening a separate account for him and transferring those funds to that account. Since he is a minor, my father will control the account via a Power of Attorney. Would this strengthen his case? My father is also thinking about transferring one of his houses under my nephew's name. Please let me know if these would work? Any other suggestions, please let me know.

- In my nephew's rejected TRV application, the purpose of visit was given as 'Family Visit' and I had submitted a letter to confirm this.Since it was rejected, in the second application, should I still give it as Family Visit? Maybe this time I can add a detailed itinerary and keep the duration of the trip to just 3 weeks. Please advise.

I will be grateful for any suggestion to improve his application. Thanks in advance for all your support.

Cheers!

Opening a new account and transferring funds won't do anything, nor will transferring the ownership of a house. The visa officer will see that the changes have been done recently and will understand that it was done specifically for the visa.

If you change the purpose of visit now, it will cause issues. No 5 year old is travelling to Canada for tourism purposes, after having applied for family visit.

Definitely provide a detailed itinerary and propose a short visit. Six weeks away from school for a five year old, even with school approval, is long.

Good luck.

Thank you k.h.p

Would travelling without his mother be a good idea, or that wouldn't make any difference too?

IMO it doesn't make any sense for a 5 year old to come as a tourist on his own. That's your main problem here.

Thank you Scylla. I can keep the purpose as Family Visit. He will be travelling with his grandparents to meet his uncle after all. What I meant by itinerary is, to give IRCC comfort that he is visiting family and during his time, I will be taking him to various attractions in Canada and after 3 weeks, he will be returning to his mother along with his grand parents. Would that work?
