Hello everyone,
This question is about a Visitor's visa but with a short introduction that explains the situation.
I am a Canadian citizen. My parents' 5-year multiple entry visa expired in April 2016, and we are looking at applying for a quick single-entry TRV for both of them. No multi-entry, no supervisa. The reason being that (we hope) we are in the final phase of the 6 yr. family sponsorship process - the medical examinations have been undergone and submitted by the Panel Physician to CIC.

So while going through the online CIC questionnaire I submit the following key answers (just checking on behalf of my parents):
- Temporary visit - less than 6 months

Side note taken from here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/medexams-temp.asp?lang=en
If you plan to visit for six months or less:
You generally do not require a medical exam, unless you plan to work in certain occupations.

- Have you had a medical exam performed by a CIC authorized panel physician (doctor) within the last 12 months?
I answer YES, because my parents have undergone medical examinations requested by CIC as a part of the application for Permanent Residence.

As a result, the final checklist says that my parents have to go through the medical examinations again! Oddly enough, if I answer NO, then no medical examinations are required. I just fail to understand why?!

So to summarize, the medical results are valid for 12 months. And you are required to undergo a new exam if the previous is still valid. However, if it's been more than 12 months and the med exam is expired, then you don't need to undergo the examination. Also if you never had an exam, you don't need that as well! I.. I just.. Please help me understand the logic...

It is not telling your parents to go through another medical exam. It is simply asking for proof of the medical that has already been done.

Thanks for your reply! If I click on the "i" button next to the Proof of medical exam, I get this explanation:

Document: Proof of medical exam

You require a medical exam. Learn how to get an upfront medical exam. In order to submit your online application, you will need to upload the information printout sheet or the IMM 1017B Upfront Medical Report form. Your doctor will give you one of these forms when you complete your medical exam.

If you cannot get a medical exam before the deadline to submit your work permit application, you may submit proof that you have a scheduled an appointment.

What you are saying makes total sense but this explanation confuses the hell out of me. Very first sentence - you require a medical exam.
I don't know what to do - do what seems logical to both you and me or follow their strict guidelines.

It's a generic message. Just upload the proof of the medical they have already done.
