Hello everyone!

My boyfriend and I are in the process of completing an application for a TRV (Visitor's Visa) for him to come meet my family and visit Canada this summer. We have almost everything done and will be handing in our application next week. I just wanted to get a sense of what you guys think our chances are! If you have any insights or success stories of people from Central America being granted this type of visa we would greatly appreciate it! Here are the details of our application:

- Letter of invitation from me and my father (because that is where we will be living in Canada, with my father!)
- My financial records to show I have enough money to help him in case he needs it
- Letter of support from a friend of mine who is an M.P in Canada
- List of events and activities we want to attend or do while in Canada (birthdays, graduation, wedding, camping, festivals etc..)
- Letter of intent from the applicant stating his reasons for visiting (meeting family and tourism)
- Proof of funds in the form of bank account statements (about 5000$CAD)
- Budget of expected expenses while in Canada (which shows that he has at least 2000$ left over in case of emergency)
- Proof of ownership of property here in Guatemala
- Letter from employer here in Guatemala stating time off has been approved and applicant will be returning to work after his visit to Canada

Do you think this is enough? Is there anything else we would need?
Thank you!!

Caroline :)

He could also add:
a. His family ties in Guatemala

b. Travel history, especially if he has visited countries like USA, Europe, etc

c. Pay stubs, employment letter, annual tax returns, etc (this will also prove the funds in the bank account are his)

If documents are not in English then it must be translated into English

All the best :)

Thanks Bryanna for the tips!

For the family ties, I'm not sure how we can prove that. He lives with his family here (mom, dad and brother) so on the family form they are all listed as living at the same address, do you think that is enough proof?

Apart from the details on the application form, you may want to add an Explanation: My Family.... Immediate Family (name/age/relationship/nationality/address)..... and Extended Family (briefly about both paternal and maternal relatives, no need to list every relative).... this will indicate that his ties to Guatemala are stronger than those to Canada

It is not necessary to substantiate the explanation for family ties with evidence.... however, if you have proofs such as any legal/government/public document that shows the immediate family members stay in the same household.... for eg: family registration for any government purpose, family book, rental agreement/property agreement, etc.... then it can be submitted to back-up the explanation
