TRV extention

So I applied for extension of stay in August and was approved two days ago. I also received an email to go have my medical done. As I await a decision on my Spousal application, I would like to apply for an open work permit, but my time will expire in 4 months. Am I allowed to apply for the OWP? Or do I need at least 6 months time?

If you applied inland, you can apply for the OWP.
