Hello Guys,

I am a Permanent Resident (Applied for Citizenship) and I have a Full Time Job in Edmonton as an Bookkeeping Assistant. I have two sons 6 years and 3 years living with me in our rented 2 Bed Room apartment. I am planning to Apply for a TRV to my Mother (My father expired in 2007). My wife got some serious health issues and she is admitted to the Hospital since August 2017 and will take more time for the recovery. It will be a great support for me if my mother could come here at least by the time of Summer vacation as kids don't like to be in Day care full time.

My concerns are:

1) Though I have a job I only have a minimum wage ($13.60 Per Hour for 37.5 Hours Per week)

2) I have only $2,000 in my Savings Account and only $6,000 in my Mother's Account

3) Is it advisable to attach my Wife's Doctor's Note with the TRV Application?

Any tips for the smooth processing of my Mother's TRV?

Thanks

I am planning to Apply for a TRV to my Mother (My father expired in 2007).
Your mom would need to prove that she is a short-term visitor who will leave at the end of her visit.

For example, a visit of 3-4 weeks max. + her ties to her home country (employment/business + property/land ownership + any other dependent family members otherwise her family ties to Canada would be stronger + good financial situation + previous travel history to visa-required countries, etc)

1) Though I have a job I only have a minimum wage ($13.60 Per Hour for 37.5 Hours Per week)
Your financial situation is secondary unless you state that you will take care of all her local travel and living expenses.

Can you save up a bit more before your mom applies?

2) I have only $2,000 in my Savings Account and only $6,000 in my Mother's Account
Does she have any other finances: Bank term deposits, shares/dividends, rental income, foreign currency?

3) Is it advisable to attach my Wife's Doctor's Note with the TRV Application?
A big no to this. Nor should you mention that she is visiting to take care of your children.

You will need to post more details so we can advise, particularly for her strong ties to her home country + previous travel history + any reason that she must return home by a specific date

Hello Bryanna,

Thanks a lot for those Million Dollar worth suggestions.

What I am planning to mention in the Invitation Letter is that she wants to come for her Grand Son's Birthday (My son's 6th Birthday is on April 25) and also for attending our Citizenship Oath Ceremony. Myself and my son have applied for the Citizenship on November 9, 2017 and the current Application status is "In Process" and we are expecting the Oath Ceremony by April or May. So she will be with us for a Maximum of 3-4 weeks. I am planning to attach my son's Passport copy for the proof of his Date of Birth and the copy of our Ecase as a proof of our current Citizenship Application status. My question is that :Is there any issues if she stay with us till the maximum stay of 6 months and is it possible for applying a Visa extension after 6 months? My apologies if this is not making any sense.

She doesn't have a job. She have a fixed Deposit of $6000, as I mentioned and she is also getting Widow Pension and Provident Fund and I will attach all those Documents.

The house which she is staying is in my name and I will do the Asset Value Certificate from a Chartered Accountant.

Please let me know if you have any further suggestions or advises.

Have a great Day ahead.

Thanks

Unfortunately, visa officers don't seem to accept birthdays and anniversary celebrations because these are annual events = Multiple visits in the future/every year.... unless these are milestone birthdays/anniversaries + elaborate celebrations have been planned.

Your oath ceremony would be a good purpose of visit.

I would also include a day-by-day itinerary with expense estimate..... like a typical tourist and to spend time with you/your family. It's not necessary to show that she would be out-and-about every single day. Some days could be stay-in types and dine at home types.

Yes, she can stay the full 6 months if the immigration officer whom she meets at the POE allows her to.

No, I would not recommend applying to extend her visit after 6 months because she will be refused. That's because to extend her visit, she must show she has the financial ability to continue staying + your financial situation almost like LICO requirements and purchase insurance. Unfortunately, neither yourself or your mom have strong financial situations.

Best case scenario: For her to return to her home country before the 6 months are up. And, don't attempt a re-entry for some months.

Provident fund is not a reason to return home + it cannot be shown as 'Available funds for my visit' because it is locked in. It can be included in her overall financials.

.... unless she has had a PF account/PF deposits since 6+ years + she is allowed to withdraw a part amount. But the reasoning is why would someone withdraw a pension fund like a PF account to pay for a visit abroad. It does not indicate a strong financial situation.

When does she need to renew the widow pension?

The house which she is staying is in my name and I will do the Asset Value Certificate from a Chartered Accountant.
You will need to include the property ownership documents + recent property tax receipts + any maintenance receipts + either self-valuation or done by a CA.

Does your mom represent you for your property for any reason? If yes, does she have a Power of Attorney to represent you?

Please let me know if you have any further suggestions or advises.
1. I'm assuming your mom lives in India based on your posting history. IMO, she should wait a couple of months before she applies. She would be applying too soon + she can build up stronger finances and stronger ties over the next couple of months.

2. Does she live with anyone? For example, your unmarried siblings or dependent grandparents?

3. You and your mom should save up some more before she applies.

4. She must include 2-3 convincing reasons to return to India with evidence. For example, a wedding in the immediate family, or at attend a legal matter, etc

5. She must have reasonable insurance coverage/an overseas travel medical policy to cover her visit

@jithucan123

Just curious to know how your mom has a PF account if she is not working.

Was she employed until recently and she/her employer had made PF contributions?
Is this your dad's PF account?
Or you meant that she has a PPF account?

My mother worked as a Teacher in a Private school for 2 years in India. :)
Th reason I asked is because if it has been more than two months since your mom was last employed + she is not a salaried employee now.... she can apply to withdraw her PF balance.

This PF amount can be credited/deposited in her bank account + can be shown as 'Funds available for her visit' to indicate a stronger financial situation The decision to withdraw the PF is hers, of course
