TRV after Working Holiday Visa expires?

Hello,

My 1 year Working Holiday Visa expires in 6 days. I applied for Temporary Visitor Visa to extend my stay as a visitor until I apply for PR through Common-Law sponsorship. Me and my girlfriend have been living for almost a year (ever since I landed here) and are planning to submit our PR application as soon as we turn 1 year of living together. Now I just found out today that CIC is still working on applications submitted in June which means that It's going to be another few months until I receive my TRV and be able to apply for PR.

Is there another way to approach my situation? Someone told me that I can get a visitor record by going to the border, does that mean I would instantly get my status extended? I am from a visa-exempt country and just wondering if there is a way to speed up the process to get my PR submitted.

You didn't apply for a TRV. You applied to change your status to visitor, which is a Visitor Record app. You will have Implied Status after your IEC permit expires while waiting on a decision for the visitor app.

Yes I believe you are right. And yes we have our PR application ready with lots of evidence to proof the validity of our relationship... Would we be able to apply before I receive my visitor record?

Evidence from day 1? Most people generally don't have strong enough proofs from day 1 and wait a few weeks to make sure.

We have been dating for over a year before we both moved to Canada (she is a Canadian Citizen) we met in England, then she moved back, I came just a month later on Working Holiday visa and we have been living since day 1 here in Canada, but we have proof from day 1 cause we been together for over 2 years.

So we can apply for PR while on implied status?

Relationship proof is one thing. Common-law proof is an entirely different thing. Do you have mail/statements/bills/etc. with your name at that address from day 1? Do you have a joint lease from day 1?

Drivers licenses

My other question is: We are planning on submitting an Open Work Permit along with our PR application, I was wondering when does implied status "kick in" and what proof would I need to continue working? My current employer wants me to come back to work for them as soon as possible, but they may be required to provide some kind of proof of implied status to CRA?

In other words, how long do I have to wait to get back into work?

You will have Implied Status as a visitor and will not be able to work until you actually receive the OWP. Expect 3-4 months from the time you submit the PR/OWP app.
