My boyfriend is a US citizen truck driver....possibly needing to enter Canada every once in a while for a load...will he need a permit...I've tried to go on the link you posted earlier, but to no avail. Who can I contact... does he need a permission slip, a back ground check etc. There was a felony 18 yrs ago which was resolved. The company is waiting on him to get this information done, so he can get back to work...Please help ASAP....much appreciated.

1. It all depends on what the conviction was for. It has to be equated to the Criminal Code of Canada. If equates to an indictable offence that he could of received 10 year or less, then he is deemed rehabilitated if 10 years have passed since the conviction. If he could have received more than 10 years under the Criminal Code then he is required to apply for rehabilitation. If he is "deemed" rehabilitated, then he should get a copy of his conviction and sentence, so if CBSA asks at the border. He doesn't need a permit.
