Hi,
I am a commercial truck driver who drives truck from Canada to USA and back. My PR card is expired and i have already applied for renewal.
Can i still return to Canada with an expired PR card?
I have read a lot on CiC website that private vehicles can re-enter.
Anybody can help me?

You should be fine.

The only [real] reason why a PR needs a valid PR card to return to Canada, is because the commercial carrier (airline, bus company, etc.) requires it. It is not a requirement for a PR to present a valid PR card upon inspection by a CBSA officer. It IS the best evidence, but it is NOT the only evidence to show to an officer. Remember...just like a passport, when the PR card expires, the status does not expire.

So unless it is a requirement of your employer to hold a valid PR card (suspect that it is not) your expired PR card will suffice. Suggest that you carry proof of your renewal application in case the CBSA officer is in a bad mood. LOL!

IMO you should be fine. I assume you meet the residency requirements and are just waiting for your new card.

The only proof of renewal i have is payment receipt. Applied online, only submitted status yet and no application number.

That's still positive, your PR card (expired) still identifies you, and the renewal app should convince the CBSA officer it's probably in order.
