Hi,

My wife who is European, had a DUI in Canada about 4 years ago. Our sponsorship application was refused and our appeal court date is on the 3rd of October - I am not very hopeful that this will work.

We will be applying for the pardon once the 5 years has passed.

She would like to be able to visit Canada in the meantime, as the pardon can take another year or 2 and then reapplying for sponsorship can take another year or 2.

We are thinking of applying for the TRP - Would it work for us? Any Advice? Any useful links ? How do I apply exactly? We are currently in the UK.

Thank you

You can certainly apply for a TRP. Provided she only has the one DUI and no other record, I would think your chances of approval would be decent. TRPs aren't that common here. I would recommend you use the forum search feature to find info on the experiences of others.

I'm not sure why you are bothering going through the sponsorship appeals process. This is a lost cause since she's inadmissible. I would drop the appeal and save yourselves money, time & frustration.

Note that you will be applying for rehabilitation after 5 years - not a pardon. She will still have the DUI on her record - but will be allowed to enter Canada once rehab is approved.

Can someone please direct me to the form I need to fill up for the TRP?

I looked everywhere, keeps hitting a dead end.

Any guides to help me fill it up as well.

Thank you

maybe im simple minded, but I saw that page, no where do i see a form or any process?
Assuming your spouse is visa exempt (i.e. qualifies for an eTA), you follow this process:

"The visa office responsible for your country or region may have its own application form for temporary resident permits. You should check the visa office to find out about its specific application procedures."

You need to contact the visa office.
