hi all

i am full time PhD student in UBC. My wife's temporary resident visa expires on 5 March, 2014. She is eligible for open work permit. But i read that to apply for open work permit the Temporary Resident Permit should be 6 months or more.

So, can i apply open work permit for her or is it better to extend the visitor visa.

Please guide me here.

Thanks in Advance

Your wife has a temporary resident VISA. The information you just quoted applies to temporary work PERMITS only. TRVs and TRPs are two very different things. So the TRP rule you read does not apply to your wife. Hope this helps.
