Trouble to get IMM 5257 form through My CIC account online

Dear Sir/Madam,

Recently, I had trouble to get the correct IMM 5257 form to renew my Temporary Resident Visa--TRV (validity until 27 April 2017) by holding my valid post graduate work permit expiring in 2019 through my CIC account online, instead, the screen always showed me IMM 5708 form or open work permit checklist after filling up the list of questionnaire. I had tried for many times but the system still showed me the same which made me feel so frustrating. And I tried to call immigration service agent, but they recommended me to apply TRV on paper, which will consume my time longer. I have a quick trip plan soon, and go for my immigration interview. Please help!

You are not filling the questionnaire correctly. Check your answers, if done correctly you should have no problem.

The question is "what would you like to do in Canada?", when I chose "work", it came out to show me open work permit checklist;
when i chose "visit", it came out to show me IMM 5708. Meanwhile, another sensitive question would be "what is your current Immigrant status in Canada?" when I chose "work", open work permit showed; "visit", IMM 5708 came out.

I applied my open work permit in 2016, but when I completed the questionnaire, it showed two options: one for Open work permit with the button "continue", the other one for "Temporary Resident Visa" with the button "continue" showed together on the screen.
But I tried to restarted so many times since last week, the two options never showed :-[ :-[
any one has good idea, Help me please, please! Thank you in advance!

It seems you are not answering it correctly.

What would you like to do in Canada? This has to be "VISIT" if you chose work then it will give you options to work, which you do not want.

Most probably you are also saying "more than 6 months" which is incorrect. You want to visit less than 6 months.

Keep checking your answers. The tool is correct, you just have to understand it.

Eventually, I got what I need. I did have to choose "work" to the question " What would you like to do in Canada?" due to the open work permit on hand, and did choose "more than 6 months". Anyway, I did adjust my answers for an additional question regarding current work status, and then finally the system showed me with two options as I mentioned above.

Yes, there are several ways to get to the different forms. Good that you found one.

As you could see it was a matter of answer correctly the questionnaire.
