Hello everyone, I am new to posting, but not to reading this forum. I am not sure how it all works; however, I can see that someone is tracking stats and I want to contribute ours.
Hubby is Trini born and raised, I am Cdn born and raised. We met May 1st 2008 in Trinidad, together as a couple ever since and recently married in Trinidad Jan. 8, 2013. I have been to Trinidad 6 times, he has never been able to travel here, despite our numerous requests for travel visas and clean security checks. Long, long, story, we are married now and submitted our spousal sponsorship (overseas) application to the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga on Feb. 7, 2013. Sent by courier so I could track their receipt of the package and get a confirmation sign off from their end. I received my courier info. the next day Feb. 8, 2013 with a signature.
We were on E-CAS as "received" the week before I received an official CIC e-mail acknowledgement of receipt on March 20, 2013. On March 28, 2013 I was approved as sponsor and was told that the rest of the package was sent to Port of Spain for processing.
My question is, will Port of Spain acknowledge receipt of the application and if so, how long will it take? In all of my time spent in Trinidad and dealing with that office for the TRVs, customer service is not top priority and they are likely understaffed as well. Although the CIC website says it can take up to 18 months for processing, I seem to be seeing on the various forums that they are actually processing much faster.
Thanks to all who participate and share their experiences on this forum. Many blessings.
