Hello,

I am looking to travel to Sweden this Christmas and having the Refugee travel document passport requires me to apply for a Visa to enter Sweden, So I was looking for the countries that I can enter with my RTD passport without a Visa, and so far I am only sure about Germany, my question is can I travel to Germany with my RTD Visa and then enter Sweden as they are all within the Schengen Area? or will I be stopped at the checkpoint and returned back?
I don't know if anyone has done that before or if it's actually legal to do that.
I am also searching for the list of Europian countries that accepts RTD passport without a Visa.
I do have my PR card and I already applied for Citizenship, passed the test, and waiting for the next step

I apologize if I posted my thread in the wrong section as I am new here.

Thanks in advance

I do not know specifics as applied to refugee travel document - but in general you can run into problems entering one Schengen country (eg with a visa issued by another) if your intent and travel plans are exclusively/primarily about visiting another. That doesn't mean they always enforce it or even pay attention to it, but there is a risk that Germany could give you problems about arriving there just to get into another. Plus there have been changing rules and border checks in some countries during covid.

So short form: if your plan is to visit Sweden, just apply for a Swedish visa.

the problem is that the Swedish council is currently closed in Ontario and I can't book an appointment now.
in regards to your comment about landing in Germany, will there be problems if I am going to a friend to stay a couple of days there and after that enter Sweden Via train/car?

YOu might check this site:
https://visa.vfsglobal.com/can/en/swe/news/schengen-visa-through

It has an explanation of the schengen policy about which country you should apply through. (I don't understand this stuff, I just know sometimes it comes up)

And since you seemingly apply for a swedish visa through the vfs offices, it may be possible to do anyway (ie. are you sure you need to do this through the swedish consulate).

Given covid there are many more checks at borders so without a visa you may have problems. If you are booking a train or ferry you may also be asked to prove that you have a visa on top of any covid requirement. It is pretty risky going without a visa. If you travel without a visa have a back-up plan if you can’t get into Sweden.
