Hi all,

I am completely panicking.

I am a permanent resident of Canada with an expired PR card and I only got my application in to the London visa office on July 17th.

I just recently learnt I needed to get this travel document - I didn't think it would matter as I have lived in Canada all my life and my PR status is still valid, just the card is expired and I have an application in for a new one in Canada.

My flight is booked for August 3rd and no one on the phone will help me or give me an update (Or even tell me if the embassy knows I'm travelling on that date..they just lecture me about how I shouldn't have booked a flight which of course is too late for that advice!

Do you think they will get to my application in time?
Will they let me into Canada without it?
Is there someone at the embassy that can help me?

I need any advice you have.
Please help!! :(

This is off another website:

If you "land" in Canada and activate your PR status, but have to leave Canada before you have received your PR card, it's okay (with the caveat that this advice is addressed to British citizens).

A British citizen who is a permanent resident of Canada may re-enter Canada with his/her British passport and without his/her PR card.

Yes, the IO at your POE will ask for your PR card and, yes, it would be nice if you had a PR card to show -- but it is not essential.

If you do not have your PR card with you, the IO may have to spend an extra couple of minutes searching for your name in a computer database, but that's about the worst thing that can happen (if you're a British citizen).
