Hey, immigration friends!

What is the deal with traveling outside Canada with a current CEC PR application in process????

Can an individual go back to their home country and wait till they get COPR. Some say
YES, and some say NO. ... :S

Maybe someone can shed some light to this. I am looking to hear from someone who is holding a passport that needs a visa to come back to Canada (not a visa exempt country), who traveled while their PR is being processed and received their COPR letter from the Canadian embassy from their home country.

There is so much ambiguity involved with this. I called CIC and one rep said " Oh yea.. sure, I don't see why that is a problem, a lot of people apply and leave because they are unemployed. Once you get your Passport request, tell them you left the country and that you can't send the documents to Ottawa. Then they will correspond with your home country Canadian Embassy and send you the PPR request and COPR from there"

Another said, "I would suggest you wait till you hear back from the PR application and go or make sure you have a visa to come back to Canada"

Why would you need a visa to come back to Canada if you don't want to come back without COPR to begin with?
sigh..

Anyone who has been through this? Please let me know.

Thanks so much!
