Hello friends,

Does travelling outside Canada after submitting the citizenship application, delay the process?

If not, then when and how many days would be reasonable?

I have yet to submit my application, but would like to time the trip well, for zero affect on my application. Please share your understanding.

no, it does not (according to the FAQ posted on the IRCC website). in any case, you are looking at at least two years before you get the citizenship: check the processing time on their website: they are still working on June 2019 applicants.

I don't think your assessment is correct. Just because there are some applications in their system from 2019 does not mean that's true of all applications from 2019. Many if not most have received their citizenship since. Check the timelines posted on this forum.

Also applications were stalled since 2020 because of Covid, does not mean they will take another two years to go through applications ranging two years. They in any case have indicated, that they are ramping up all official processes. All in all I think, in the next few months, things will certainly speed up quite a lot. I am quite certain of it. Obviously this is just my opinion or assessment of the situation based on facts.

This is true for applications submitted just before and after covid-19. Late 2020 and later processing time is less than a year for most applicants. IRCC doesn't care about fairness. They only want to meet their targets.
