I am in a really tricky situation. I am working in USA on H1B. I'll be driving to Canada for Citizenship oath ceremony. During the ceremony, the PR card with be cut to 2/4 pieces. Can I still drive back to USA with a cut PR card? I am asking because, in my experience, at border usually we have to show PR card as well. Really need some help here to understand if we can cross border without showing the PR card or by explaining to them.

p.s. Not sure what is the right place to post this. Mods, please delete if not appropriate.

US Customs does not need to see your Canadian PR card. Your past experience seems weird, probably you were presenting it without being asked?

Unless you're actively looking for something to worry about, you will have no problem crossing the border. People with all kinds of statuses in Canada like visitor, work, PR cross the US border on a regular basis. It's a non-issue.

The CBP don't ask for PR card. You should be fine, alternatively you can also show your citizenship certificate if you get it back by that time.
