Travelling back to India after study permit expiry

I am an Indian citizen, living in Canada as an international student since last year. I have a query regarding a TRV for returning from India to Canada.

My student permit expires on 30th July 2019. I applied for my Post Graduate Work Permit in Toronto on 27th May. When I spoke to immigration helpline here they told me it will take two more months to process.

I have booked my tickets to travel to India from 13th August to 12th September. My question is, can I apply for a TRV or any other applicable visa when I land in India? If yes, how much time does it take?

Any help on this will be highly appreciated.

Processing time here although in hindsight I guess you had your reasons for not keeping a valid TRV whilst in Canada especially given you intended to apply for a PGWP. Recommendation is always to keep a valid TRV given never know if need to travel for some reason and can be a hassle time wise to apply outside of the country.
