Hi. I'm in the final stages of my PR application (Decision made/passport scan request letter) but I've found myself in an odd situation and wondered if any previous applicants on this forum had had any experience with anything similar?
Due to the crazy fluctuations in prices for plane tickets over christmas, I booked a flight back to Vancouver for the 7th of December, thinking everything'd be sorted by then, but as the date gets closer, its looking like theres a chance I won't have received anything back from Ottawa by the time I fly.
I understand I'm still entitled to enter Canada as a visitor, with dual intent, but with my PR looming on the horizion, whats the best way of approaching things at the airport? Is it still advisable to have a return ticket booked*, even if my PR is probably a matter of days away.
I've heard before that as long your PR's been issued, you don't need the physical letter on you, as immigration can look you up on their system, but what about immediately before that? Are they likely to expect me to prove ties to home, a job and intention to return, even though its clear to anyone that I'm planning on staying in Canada?
Any advice would be a massive help. Thanks.
*Also, any advice on booking a ticket that you know you have no intention of using would be appreciated. Any airlines that are particularly good with cancellations and refunds?
