Hi I received my PR in July 2010 and I moved to Canada in April 2013 but I still have job in USA and need to travel there once in month.
If I stat constantly in Canada I will be able to finish my 730 Days residency obligation, but my fear is soon I will be out of days (as I am making trips to USA) I can stay out of Canada to meet my 730 days obligation.
My question is, can I travel back and forth (multiple days) to USA even if I will not "GOING" meet my 730 days residency obligation before my PR card expires ?
In other words > Can I travel to USA many times even if I stayed more then three years out of country with my valid PR card ? and once my PR is about to expire I will stop my travelling to USA ?
My primary residence is in Canada and my family is in Canada on PR as well, they will not have any problem in 730 days residency, will that help me in any case ?Travelling back and forth on valid PR but trouble with 730 Days obligation.

The Only answer I can give to you that If you continue back and forth, you are asking for trouble for yourself.

If you keep going back and forth, you risk that at some point, you will be reported on entry for not meeting the RO. If that happens, you can appeal. Worst case, if you lose your PR, your spouse can sponsor you again as long as your spouse is in Canada and meets the RO.

However, once your PR card expires, you will not be able to renew it as you don't meet the RO and you will have a problem travelling without it so you really should start looking for a job in Canada to solve this problem.

1. Your PR Card can be used for travel until its expiry date.

2. CBSA at each admission into Canada can and do enquire as to your place of residence, your occupation, your absences etc. They can report you at any time if they are of the opinion you are in breach of the RO.

3. You can appeal the report but breaching the RO due to working abroad doesn't cut it..plenty of PRs work in Canada!

4. You can't rely on relatives meeting the RO to save you - sorry its not like a cell phone family package with shared minutes!

5. Once your PR Card has expired you can as per current legislation use your landing documents to cross the land border by non commercial means e.g. private car, rental, foot. The lack of a valid PR Card means you will be more likely get busted for the breach but that's what happens when you treat your PR like some form of glorified visitors visa rather than its intended purpose which is to live in Canada (as per case law).
