Is there any issues for Americans traveling to Canada while waiting for PR?

I would like to bring my wife back to Canada to visit for a month or two while we are waiting. If I decide to drive her back to Canada with me, does she need to buy a return ticket if she has strong ties to the USA?

She has never over stayed and always left when she was supposed to on previous visits.

Thank you!

No, there's usually no issues. Canadian immigration law allows for what's called "dual intent". You can be a temporary resident and have a Spousal PR application in the works.

I've been up here in Alberta "visiting" since last August. When my six months as visitor was about 30 days from expiring, I applied for a one year extension, and received it just after Christmas. My PR was approved a little over two weeks ago, and I'm now waiting for my CoPR to arrive from Ottawa.

Your wife shouldn't need a return ticket. You should have a copy of your acknowledgement of receipt or spousal approval letter for CBSA to see if there's any questions.

She would only stay a max of 2 months at a time because we enjoy heading south every once in a while. If she rides up with me and doesn't bring her own car do you think she should buy a return ticket? She can show ties to the USA

Sorry, added to my post as you were replying.

No, your wife doesn't need a return ticket. That would probably only be advised with someone applying for a TRV.

She doesn't need a return ticket when travelling by car. Especially being with you. That would be rather strange.

Those who are travelling by bus or plane alone should have one. It really depends on your reason for travel in that case, but this is irrelevant to your wife.

TThank you for the help everyone :)
