Hello!

So here's the deal. I am a student at a Canadian University, registered and all. Lived in canada for nearly 4 years, and my study permit expired by the end of august 2016. Started the renewal process of the Quebec Study permit (CAQ), and had to leave around mid august, thinking i can come back to finish it, because of a supposed 90 days grace period.
Came back mid september, and wasn't allowed entry, entry with intent of study with not the right papers. so got sent back to paris, without any limitation on going back to canada. Continued my application process, but got refused because of some health insurance problem. anyway, i've been given the choice of directly reapplying, but risking getting refused again., or waiting 6 months until i can have a clean slate in the system. which would make it february.
So instead of waiting in paris, while still paying rent in montreal, i am going back on friday, and planning on applying for a change of status to student by the end of february.
In the meantime, i wont be studying or working, and i have more than the necessary funds.
I applied through the ETA, wrote exactly a long explanation similar to this. and got it the next day.

Question is, i plan on being 100% truthful, and telling them that i intend on changing status after 3 months to student for the summer session.
Is there a risk that i might get rejected?

Thank you

Sure - there's a risk you may be refused entry. Also possible you may get in. ETAs are meant for individuals visiting Canada - not those that have plans to remain long term. It's possible the CBSA officer may not like what you're doing since you'll be using the ETA to effectively live in Canada.

Hard to say what will happen given you were refused entry previously. It's going to be a dice roll.
