My PR Card expired Oct.14, 2013.
I have a plan to travel in December.

My PR renewal application is transferred to Local CIC.(I am not sure how long....?)
I have no problem with residence requirement. (Only one month out of country)

Can I travel without valid PR card?
Is it OK to show that I meet Residence Requirement on entry?
What document to prepare for entry?

I appreciate any comment...

Do you hold a visa exempt passport or a non-visa exempt passport?

Just fly back and deal with CBSA at the port of entry most likely at secondary inspection...carry some evidence of your residence eg pay stubs and proof you applied for renewal.

I would have confirmation of permanent residence/landing document as well. Maximum, you will be sent to secondary screening but then you will be let in. My wife is from visa exempt country and she was let in fine. We just showed the landing document and explained that the PR is in the mail but we had an emergency.

I'm in a similar position. I've applied with an urgent application but I'm due to leave canada on dec 19th. I do not have my confirmation of permanent resident / landing as I lost it 5 years ago... Suggestions?

I'm from the US

Since you are from the US. You can just tell them that you had to travel urgently and you requested fast processing of PR card and it is process and also if you have the passport when you landed it should have the stamp of landing. They will most likely send you to secondary screening and then tell that you have to have a pr card and then let you thru as soon as they determine you are a PR.

My wife is from the US and the CBSA officer didn't even check her confirmation of permanent residence form just stamped the passport and let us thru.

I would also if possible request the copy of your landing document from CIC. It will take a while and it is good to have a copy.

CIC no longer issue copies of your landing documents. You will instead get a 1 page A4 type 'verification of status' letter detailing the important historical facts pertaining to your landing such as date, port of entry etc. Its not proof of PR status nor a travel document.
