Travel with Temporary visa after getting PR visa. Possible?

Hello folks,

I may need some assistance here. I live in the US. I have a Temporary visiting visa for Canada and was planning to visit Toronto for my US visa stamping. Meanwhile I submitted my FSW application and looks like it got processed and I am waiting to receive my passports next week with the PR visa on it. I have already scheduled my US visa interview date in January-2014. I just got a confusion now that - will the immigration officer allow me into Canada as a tourist to attend the interview? Or since the PR visa is already there on the passport, will he ask me to immigrate instead of allowing me as a tourist?

I already read about the "dual intent" process but that is possible when the PR process is "in progress". But for me I would have already got my PR visa on the passport. Please help if anyone has any idea on this kind of situation! Thanks.

You don't HAVE to "land" as a PR until you are ready, as long as you do so by the expiration date on the COPR. Until then you can use your visit visa. As soon as you land, your visit visa will become void.
