Hi all

I want to travel to US (my friend will be driving us), but my Canada TRV is expired. After following the discussion, I understand that I can re-enter Canada with my valid work-permit. I do want to ask if getting a US B2 visa will be difficult (applying from Canada) if my Canada TRV is expired, or it doesn't affect getting a US visa at all??

Thanks

Yes, you can re-enter Canada with an expired TRV (but you can only visit the continental United States).

With regards to the US visa, that is up to the Americans. They are independent of each other, but the Americans assess your "ties" to your country of residence. If you don't have a TRV, it may impact their assessment of your ties for travel outside of Canada/USA. Whether this ultimately changes their opinion, no idea - it's probably going to largely depend on the case officer and other factors too (job, other ties to Canada, etc.).

Hi Seton

Could you suggest some advice :
I want to apply for US visa (after I get Canada TRV) but I found that my Original Post Grad Work Permit is missing, I have looked for it everywhere but don't find it.
Please tell me what can I do now since I need to show my legal status (original: Work permit) for US visa interview? Is there any solution?

PS: I have applied for replacement but it is going to take 4 months (as mentioned in CIC website)

Any suggestions???
Thanks

I don't exactly what the US visa office will say, but I'm guessing that they will want to see the work permit. I think you will need to wait to get the copy to prove your status (I don't know if the CIC issues any intermediary letter, I think it unlikely). The US immigration will assess your ties to Canada, so the work permit will be an important piece of that.

Is it relatively easy to get a US visa from Canada???..I know that some people told me if someone is working full time then the chances are high for approval...?? I am not sure if this is true though and is it harder for a single person to get a US visa?

Hi Seton
Thanks for replying. I understand that this is not the right place for discussing US visa, but I ddi not know where else to ask, I really appreciate you replying.

Hi Candyman

Since we are living and working in Canada for few years, we have strong ties to show in Canada, when we apply for a visitor USA visa. Applying from home country will be difficult as we have not been living there for a while and also no ties to show taht we intent on "not staying" in USA for long.
Hope this helps you.
