The Philippine travel tax is a fee imposed by the government for
Filipinos traveling abroad. The full travel tax is P1,620 for passengers on economy class plane tickets and P2,700 when flying first class. As stated by Presidential Decree 1183, Philippine citizens have to pay the appropriate travel tax, regardless of the place where the airline ticket is issued or the form of payment. Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are exempted from paying the terminal fee.
Isnt that included already on the ticket price? As far as i know when I bought my mom’s ticket i paid extra 221 canadian dollars for taxes and fees.
Depend's when you bought the ticket. Some airlines does not include it. But recently they already imposed that it should be included already. Do check your mom's ticket. If it is include then she does not need to pay it and just go directly to the check-in counters. The staffs on the check-in counters also verifies these things. If not yet included on the ticket, they will ask the passenger to settle it before checking in.
