Travel on expired PR card

Hi,

My PR CARD expired this November and I have applied for renewal. However I may have to take a trip to Seattle in January and I'm not expecting PR CARD to come by then.

Is there anything I can do pre departure to make sure that when I come back I have all the necessary documents?

My Canadian citizenship application is also in progress, I will be appearing for citizenship test next week.

You can come back via the land border in a private vehicle with your expired PR card.

What citizenship do you hold? If you have a US passport, you are good to return via any means including flying. If not, then you will need to re-enter Canada via a land border using a private vehicle.

But no issues traveling.
