Hi, all!

My question is this, "Can someone who is laid-off on a closed work-permit, who is allowed to stay in Canada until their work permit expires, leave and re-enter Canada with a valid visa?".

Situation:

I'm on a closed-work permit in Canada valid until 2024. Our company got divested, and 'technically' I've been 'laid off' until the new company that bought us can apply for an LMIA and sponsor my work permit.

I am aware that I can:
1. Stay in Canada until my work permit expires
2. Can't work for another employer

But, it doesn't mention anything about whether can I leave and re-enter Canada.

(I do have a valid temporary resident visa).

When did you arrive in Canada and how long did you work before being laid off? Do you have proof of enough savings to support yourself without working for the remainder of your WP or around 6 months if you have already applied for a WP? In general I would not recommend leaving Canada if not working.

Arrived about 3 months ago, yes, have enough savings. I haven't applied for a new work permit yet, still on the original closed work permit.
