Hi Everyone

My mother will arrive in Canada next month on visit visa. I already got quotation for her medical insurance from
some companies. I shortlisted ManuLife Insurance and probably will get the medical Insurance from them. I read
some horrible stories regarding the medical insurance claim denied by the companies. I also heard from a
broker that if one submit the long medical bills the insurance companies will verify 6 month medical history
from back home. Now I am bit worried because my mother is coming from Pakistan and there is no concept of
medical history. In Pakistan medical records are not computerized in many hospitals and clinics. If anyone already
go through this situation please share with me.

Thanks and have a great day.

I cannot comment from a Pakistan viewpoint but in most countries as you may know when you take out any sort of travel or medical insurance the onus is on the purchaser to declare any existing or past medical conditions that could affect a policy or claim. Most companies when they quote have a list of conditions they want to know about and either adjust the premium accordingly or exclude. Also it would be strange if a visitor has any travel insurance where if necessary repatriation to home country as an extreme measure due to a medical condition occuring is not covered.
