Hi there,

I had made trips in late 2011 to the US and Canada on a now expired passport. Unfortunately for me I have seem to have lost the previous passport so I am unable to prove it without the entry and exit stamps. The only thing I have is a scanned copy of the ID page.

Should I:

A) Pretend they didn't happen and make no mention of those trips.

B) Do not list them in my travel history but provide the ID page of the old passport and an explanation as to why I am unable to prove them.

I'm worried that if I list them out but provide no proof or even provide a reasonable explanation that the application would be rejected.

Any suggestions would be great.

To get through PR application (and other things in life), don't pretend and just be honest. You can always explain the situation and give estimated dates for these trips. Things like this happen and visa officers are human and know that. You are required to list your travel history, so list it so that you don't regret later when CIC get the information during their security checks (yes, they will get it) and ask you why you didn't disclose these information or even reject your application.
Fair enough. I best ask before I submit.

Well, I was able to find the previous passport now.

Another question: In the section where they ask about your travel history for the last 10 years, my travel history for this period spans 2 passports. Do/should I list the expired passport in the travel documents section to match the travel history?

I've already listed my current passport and Hong Kong Identity Card.

The conventional wisdom on this forum is that only current passport information is needed so, while you do need to list all travel in the last 10 years, you do NOT need to make any mention anywhere in your application of your expired passport (even though the evidence of some of your travel will be in that passport). That being said, some people still upload the stamped pages of their expired passport, just in case. Just make sure you provide a clear demarcation between the pages of your current passport, and the pages of your expired passport, so that IRCC knows the difference.

B is the right way. I went to USA quite a few times and returned to Canada without exit stamps. What I did was I looked at my entry stamps, old photos and estimated the number of days I spent in the US every trip. Then I explained it in the LOE. Now I got PPR. Simply do not hide anything. Good Luck to you!!

I have a question here. In eAPR form, it's asked to enter details of travel for past 10 years. I have not traveled abroad anytime. It was just some domestic trip within India. So what do I write in that section of eAPR (because, I don't remember anything before 2-3 years) Please help!!
