I have noticed that some of the applicants are refused under the category of Travel history. I had traveled 5 countries before on a tourist visa and came back to my country on time. A couple of them were muslim countries such as UAE and malyasia. Is this an issue? Having a travel history is a bad or good thing? Just share your opinions. Thanks

This scares me, too. I'm a frequent traveler (i've been traveling to other countries since I was six). I've been to eight countries, four of them requiring visas (US, Spain, South Korea, Canada). I'm scared because I'm in Canada now, on a Multiple Entry Visitor's Visa (which will expire in 2017, and this is my second visa already). I flew here last April, then exited and went to the US for a month, then came back in June. I will go home in two weeks, once I get my acceptance letter from Seneca. IS THIS A BAD THING? Or can this be a good thing, because it shows that I/my parents have the money to travel? I just graduated from Uni last March, this is my graduation break :-|

First of all, having a travel history to developed countries such as USA and Canada is a good thing. On top of that, you did not break any rules of your issued visas to these countries so I think you have a good travel history. You have nothing to worry about. Infact it may take care of your home ties issue as well. On the other hand, I'm from Pakistan, having a name of "Muhammad" and "Khan" as my first and last name. "Khan" is a common name which appears in a data list of most wanted terrorists sought after by the USA. An Indian actor named Shahrukh Khan who was actually searched by immigration officers at one of American airports because of him having a particular muslim name.

I traveled to UAE and Malaysia. The way I was searched at their respected airports I got the impression that Pakistanis in general were not looked upon favorably by their own muslim brothers or whatever they call in ancient jargon "Ummah". That's why I was a little worried about visiting muslim countries.

I met other citizens of the world during my travels and the first question they ask about my country is " suicide bombs going off right, left and center".

In short, you are fine my dear friend.

Maybe your academic profile can do the trick? That's just plain unfair :(

well, that's just my perception but that's not how Canadians might think about muslim countries in general. I'm going to apply for my visa in any case. In the end, whatever people say or do that does not matter it is God who has a final say and he knows things better. It is not the end of the world even if im refused for whatever reasons, life must go on.

Rockers, Travel history will give you edge/plus point for your visa, unless you have travelled to countries which USA has influence, like Iran, Afghanistan etc. Malaysia or UAE are most popular tourist destination in Asia so its a matter of fact that you will get advantage.

But if you stayed more then 6 month in any country then don't forget to obtain police certificate of that country. Otherwise CHC may ask for that after you apply and it can waste your valuable time.

Think positive! :) Apply first, then pray. You will get that visa! :)
