Travel during processing time

Hey Guys,

I got a mail from CIC to send in my physical passport to the LA office within 30 days (I am assuming that my visa was approved and they need to stamp it). I am traveling out of the country in the next 10 days so don't want to risk sending the passport beforehand. I am back with 4 days to spare, not sure if VAC would process my documents and send it to the embassy in time. Has anyone faced a similar issue? What have you done? Whats the avg processing time from when you send it to VAC and to when you received a confirmation?

I have written to the customer service without any luck and according to the FAQ I should write to the customer service - so you see the problem here.

Finally, Do you know if I can pull back my application today and apply again next week to ensure that I meet the timelines?

Hi,

You can submit your passport after you return. Do not withdraw your application if you are confident that your passport will reach the VAC within 30 days after passport request. After this, it does not matter how long it takes to stamp and return you passport (the 30 days does not apply to this)

Thanks Bryanna. I am confident it will reach VAC within the 30 day mark. I had initially thought it was 30 days to reach the embassy which is why I was concerned. But this helps.

If I may ask another questions, How long does it take after I send my passport? Mine was a Online application and processing time shows 13 days, is that from the day I start my application or after I send my passport?

Processing time is calculated from the day the visa office receives a complete visa application. One must add up to 10 days to this for passport transmission.

Do note that any processing time stated on the CIC website is only an estimate.... it will vary from case to case
