Translations are driving me insane

Hi all,

BIG SIGH!!! I've had my docs translated by someone from the ATIO. Now, on the CIC website, it says I must submit the translated docs and a certified true copy of the original. It also says that the translator will provide both a certified translation and a certified true copy of the original.

When I look at the instructions for certified true copies, it says the doc must state:

• “I certify that this is a true copy of the original document”,
• the name of the original document,
• the date of the certification,
• his or her name,
• his or her official position or title, and
• his or her signature.

NONE of that is stated on my officially translated docs by the ATIO guy, although the copies bear his stamp from ATIO. Do I need to go get certified copies? My head is spinning here!!!

The translator can give a certified translation. The certified copy of the original document for me was by a notary and completely separate from the translation.

One item that seems to cause confusion is the certified copy:
Certified copy of the original document doesnt mean certified copy of the translation. It means a copy of the original raw untranslated document that they are asking for. So its two separate processes unless the translator happens to be a notary as well.
