Translation of documents - is the notary certificate required?

Dear members, please help me with this dilemma. If you have documents in a foreign language do you need to translate them to english by a professional and then certify the translation at a notary office? Or having the translation without certifying it at a notary is enough for IRCC? Please note that notary's certificate will be in the original language since im doin the translation in a country where english is not the official language. Also notaries cannot verify the translation, they can only verify the signature of the translator. Do I then go back and translate notaries statement? Its like a neverending circle.

There are two ways doing translations

(1) Find a Certified Translator in Canada (must be certified by one of the provincial translator organizations). All you need is a certificate of translation, a translated version, and the original document.

If (1) does not work, you need

(2) A translation translated by anyone except you or your relatives, an affidavit signed by the translator and his signature notarized, and a certified true copy of the original document.

Thanks a lot! Second option is more convenient for me. Does the notarization of signature need to be translated into english? Since notary will only notarize it in the local language.

In your case, you need 3 copies for each document:
1. The original scan
2. The original scan that you send to the translator which need to has his/her endorsement on
3. The translated version of the (2) which also need to has his/her endorsement on
