Just wanted a confirmation whether Indian passport holders need a transit visa for flights to Canada if there is a stopover in Western Europe particularly if the stopover is in Paris, London, Amsterdam, Munich or Frankfurt? Any constructive suggestion is greatly appreciated.

If you are travelling through US then no matter you coming out from plane or not, you will have to obtain US transit VISA.. even authorities at airport will not let you board the plane if you not holding US visa.. However, if you have any valid US visa then you can transit through America, otherwise not allowed.

Suggest u to travel through Germany/switzerland/amsterdam/france... In these countries if you are holding Canadian or US visa and you remain at international transit area (means you are not changing airports) then transit visa is not required... Do not book the tickets if your fight has multiple layovers in schengen countries because in that case.. transit visa is also required.

You can travel through London as well but keep this in mind that your fight should depart the same day (before 23:59)

Hope it helps.
