Hello everyone,

I am a Canadian Permanent Resident with Indian passport.

I am traveling to India via Paris (Toronto - Paris - New Delhi). With over 12 hrs of layover in Paris, I plan to visit the city => Do I need a transit visa for Paris?

Not sure if it is required, but I also have a valid US tourist visa

Any help would be appreciated as the French consulate doesn't confirm and gives out relatively confusing replies :( :( :(

Regards,
Mohit

Hello there!

Here is a link for you:

http://www.schengenvisainfo.com/france-visa/airport-transit-visa/

Basically it says that yes you do need a transit visa, but it only covers the airport, you cannot go out of the airport!

Actually I take that back!

I should have read further! It says that since you hold residency in Canada, you don't need the transit visa!

An airport transit visa only covers the airport. If you want to leave the airport, you'll need to apply for a tourist visa.
