Dear Forum Members

I was wondering how do the immigration authorities trace the presence or absence of a PR in Canada. Do they depend on airport reports, the old passports, or on the new features of the recent PR card? or may be they do not trace it at all.

As I travel from and to Canada, I do not notice the Canadian officials at the airport recording my info. in any way on their computers, unless there are some hidden ways unknown to me.

Not plotting to sneak around, just wondering :)

While entering Canada do they stamp your passports?

No they do not. When I first came to Canada before getting my PR card, they did not stamp my passport, nor did they after I got the PR.

Really ! did they not stamp it at all ! even to show the port of entry where you have entered, and the date of entry along with the expiry date of your temporary status before you become a PR !

After you got the PR visa, and landed at the port of entry, haven't they stamped your passport as well to show the entry date, and the Code of the port of entry along with the name of it !

The 2 above situations happend to me in both cases, they stamped my passport when i first arrived to canada as an international student at the airport, and when i landed in the borders between canada and the states.

Upon arrival at the port of entry the passport is scanned which goes to their system. Perhaps that could be enough to record any one's entry.

Wilson,

Did you go through the same process without having your passport stamped at the port of entry when you entered Canada ?
