Hi,
Would I be able to apply for a extension at a bridge border crossing? When I recieved My TPR I was told I could . But when I called and asked Imigration the said I should mail it.
If I apply by mail and I do not have my approval back and need to cross back into the US before I have it back, will I be allowed back in canada.
Im a US citizen , married to my husband who is a canadian cit. we have been married 21 yrs.
I will also have my PR papers sent in before hand as well.
Thanks

Since you're from US there's less chance of there being a problem. Although depending on the CBSA officer you get (most are nice and curteous) they may scold you a little for not applying to extend inland like everyone else, and essentially flagpolling to skip the administrative process. The worst you're likley to get is a couple of cold stares and a bit of a grilling. in all likleyhood though you'll have no problems. I did the visa extension at the border once, in my case the officer was a jerk and he denied me. I went back again a lil later got a lady who was nice, said she remembered me and i got a bum deal and she gave me 12 months since i had filed PR app. Always a risk you get a complete tool, but generally its a painless process
