Tourist/Visitor Visa Query

Hello friends,

I live in Saskatchewan,iam from India with a valid study permit. I wish to call one of my friend from Brazil to Canada, she studied with us for about 1.5 years. I wish to know that should she apply under Tourist visa or Visiting a friend category. If she applies as Tourist how much funds does she need to show and just in case if it is under Visiting a friend category.Me being a temporary resident, can i kind of show that iam sponsoring her. Please help. Thank you !

1, She has to apply as a tourist (TRV) there is no visiting friends visa. As to funds, it depends on how long she intends to stay, She will have to demonstrate that she has ties to her home country, job schooling property etc.

Thanks for you reply Sir. In the options when we try to apply for Tourst visa we see two options in the reason area. There we can either put tourism or visiting friends. if i put tourist i see less requirements. If i put visiting a friend i see more requirements and in that case they need my bank details etc as well. Iam kind of sponsoring my friend and i already have the Canadian currency so i though putting the friend thing would help.

If she applies for Tourist visa and she selects reason to be tourism. Can we still use my bank details as proof of funds. I can probably write a letter and sign justifying that ill be paying for everything. Can that work?
